Preamble:

I've been re-reading the latest edition of Freed to Lead, which has me pumped about doing hard things, accelerating, accountability, etc. So when the Black Water Q came free, I jumped on it intending to deliver a tough beatdown. Because that's what the PAX really want. Hard is play; easy is work. Sounds counter-intuitive but it's true.

Warm-O-Rama:

Jog up to the upper parking lots for silent SSHs (only 2 penalty burpees; heck, even our newest PAX got it right!), Calf/runner stretches, Good Mornings, and Merkins

The Thang:

Continue on up the 100 yards or so to the top of the hill where 11th, 12th, and 13th streets converge for Double 11s: At the bottom of hill 1 do Mike Tysons, at the bottom of hill 2 do reverse LBCs and always burpees at the top. Counting went like this:
  • Run to bottom of Hill 1, do 10 Mike Tysons, Run to top of Hill, do 1 burpee
  • Run to bottom of Hill 2, do 1 reverse LBC, Run to top of Hill, do 10 burpees
  • Run to bottom of Hill 1, do 9 Mike Tysons, Run to top of Hill, do 2 burpee
  • Run to bottom of Hill 2, do 2 reverse LBCs, Run to top of Hill, do 9 burpees
  • ...
The idea was to continue until we'd reversed it completely to 1 and 10, 10 and 1. However, due to time we made it to 8 and 3, 3 and 8. Almost. Jog back to the flag. Early arrivers did American Hammers until the six arrived. Time's up.

  • If one of us is training for SMR, all of us are training for SMR!
  • YHC's workouts will be no less difficult after the SMR, however. I have ideas.
  • Great work today. In addition to getting 3 miles in we did well over 100 burpees, 50ish Mike Tysons, and 50ish Reverse LBCs!
  • Some got the counting. Some, sadly, never did
  • The Mountains are calling and I must go!
